Aomori Takayama Inari Shrine
The Vermilion Path Connecting Gods and People: "Senbon Torii"
Located in Tsugaru City, Aomori, this shrine is revered as a place of worship for deities associated with abundant harvests, maritime safety, and prosperous business. The year 2026 (Reiwa 8) marks the Year of the Horse, which is closely connected to the Inari deity enshrined here. The dedication of the "Senbon Torii" began in 1980 (Showa 55) and was later restored as part of a commemorative project celebrating the imperial enthronement ceremonies. Today, more than 270 torii gates line the grounds, creating striking scenery in harmony with the changing seasons. From June through July, hydrangeas and water lilies add vibrant color to the shrine precincts, forming a beautiful contrast with the torii gates. Visitors receiving prayer services may also stay overnight at the shrine’s assembly hall.
