Maebashi Toshogu Shrine, a shrine completely renovated in the Reiwa period

It was founded in 1624 with Tokugawa Ieyasu as the main deity, and in 2021 it underwent a major renovation for the Reiwa era, and was reborn as a shrine for the next generation. The deities enshrined together are Princess Konohana Sakuya, Lord Michizane Sugawara, and Lord Nagabe. They have a wide range of divine virtues, including good luck, warding off evil spirits, safe childbirth, and success in school, making them recommended for New Year's visits and praying for success in school. Prayers for vehicle traffic safety are held at the first shrine in the country built specifically for cars.

A "Prayer Lamp" That Gently Glows With the Light of a Bamboo Tube

A light-up event called "Prayer Lights" will be held to pray for the eradication of the epidemic and world peace. The bamboo tubes that illuminate the shrine grounds are decorated with the Tokugawa family's trefoil hollyhocks and other fantastical designs, and their divine atmosphere is a must-see. During the event, limited-edition goshuin stamps "Maebashi Toshogu ~Takeakari~" that are made with paint that glows in the dark will be distributed.
