Japanese Soul Food for Everyday Energy
Opened in February 2026 on the East Passage of "Kamiyacho Shareo," a convenient stop during commuting, school trips, or shopping, "Onigiri-ya Santo Shareo" is the second location of an onigiri specialty shop from Miyajima, Hiroshima. Specially cultivated rice from Hiroshima is cooked until fluffy in a traditional pot and topped with generous fillings such as tuna made from freshly filleted bonito, or roast beef. Separately packaged salted nori is wrapped around the onigiri just before eating for a crisp finish. Alongside onigiri, the menu includes Miyajima's signature "Conger Eel Rice Bowl" and salads, which can be combined into a lunch-style meal.
Premium Seasoned Seaweed Crafted from Ariake Sea Harvests
The separately packaged seaweed nori, wrapped around each onigiri just before eating, is salted nori produced by "Kameya Nori," established in Kurume, Fukuoka, in 1961. Crafted with techniques honed over years of experience to preserve its color, flavor, and aroma, the salted nori is an essential complement to the signature onigiri, each carefully shaped by hand.
Specially Cultivated Rice Sourced from Hiroshima Prefecture
The onigiri uses specially cultivated "Nikomaru" rice certified under Hiroshima's "Anshin! Hiroshima Brand," grown with pesticide and chemical fertilizer use reduced to half or less than conventional levels. Characterized by plump grains and a pleasing flavor, the rice develops greater sweetness when slightly cooled rather than when served hot, making it particularly well-suited to onigiri.
