Handa Red Brick Building, which is about a 5-minute walk from Sumiyoshicho Station on the Nagoya Railway, was founded in 1898 as a manufacturing factory for Kabuto Beer. The building was designed by the great Meiji architect, Yorihiro Tsumaki, and is one of the top five brick buildings in existence in Japan. There are very few remains of the beer factory, making it a very valuable structure. The facility has a "Permanent Exhibition Room" that introduces the history of the birth of Kabuto Beer, a cafe where you can taste reprinted Kabuto Beer, a souvenir shop, and the "Handa Red Brick Marche," which has a wide variety of interesting themes, is also held regularly. If you visit Nagoya, you should definitely stop by.
