Exceptional Soba Served with Seasonal Tempura
Located just a 3-minute walk from Uji Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, Tsubameya is a soba restaurant known for its authentic tempura made with fresh, local ingredients from the Yamashiro area. The menu also features cha soba made with Uji matcha, offering a uniquely local flavor. The restaurant uses carefully selected buckwheat flour, primarily sourced from Kyoto Prefecture and blended with flour from neighboring Shiga, to craft its exquisite soba.

Enjoy Healthy Tempura with Premium Ingredients Fried in Rice Oil
The tempura ingredients are mainly local Yamashiro vegetables, as well as seasonal ingredients, shrimp, conger eel, and whiting. The tempura is coated with special tempura batter and fried in rice oil until crispy, resulting in a healthy, light taste that goes perfectly with soba noodles. In spring, you can also enjoy tempura made from bamboo shoots and wild vegetables harvested by the owner himself.

A Calm and Inviting Interior Filled with the Warmth of Wood
The owner himself was involved in the interior construction of the shop, which was renovated from an old house, and made it into a nostalgic, clean, and comfortable space. He also gave instructions for the construction of the large table made from a single board. The spacious, warm space with a wooden motif is perfect for taking a break during your trip.
