Authentic Flavors Made Easy to Enjoy
"LuaRuaCoffee," about a 7-minute drive from JR Ueda Station, is run by an owner with Brazilian roots and brings Brazilian food culture closer to home. Ingredients such as coffee beans and acai are sourced from Brazil, while popular Brazilian sweets and light meals have been adapted to flavors familiar to Japanese tastes. Favorite drinks and sweets are also available for takeout.
Tabiiro’s picks: signature dishes
Rich, Melt-in-the-Mouth "Hiyatoro Cake Chocolate"
Made entirely in-house, "Hiyatoro Cake Chocolate" is the shop's original take on the traditional Brazilian sweet "Bolo gelado," adapted with a less-sweet flavor familiar to Japanese tastes. The cake is soaked with a special chocolate sauce, giving it a soft, melting texture that has earned it the description "drinkable cake." For dine-in orders, an additional sauce is served on the side, making the cake even more moist and smooth. "Hiyatoro Cake Chocolate" offers a taste of Brazil from afar.
Popular pairings
"Brazilian Coffee"
Made exclusively with beans imported directly from farms in Brazil, the "Brazilian Coffee" at "LuaRuaCoffee" is best enjoyed black. The café takes particular care with its original dark roast, bringing out the beans' natural character along with a deep, full-bodied richness, a toasty aroma, and layers of flavor. Available hot or iced, the coffee has a clean taste that pairs beautifully with the café's original sweets, pleasantly cutting through their lingering sweetness.
Must-try signature dish
-
"Acai Bowl"
Made with acai sourced from Brazil and no other fruit, this bowl highlights the natural flavor of acai while providing an easy way to get its nutrients. Brazilian guarana syrup adds sweetness, with seasonal fruit on top. Chocolate sprinkles, condensed milk, and coconut add layers of flavor, creating a different combination with each spoonful.
-
"Pastel"
"Pastel" is a popular snack at markets and street stalls in Brazil. House-made pastry dough is fried until crisp and filled generously with ingredients such as ground beef, chicken, and cream cheese. Neither a fried dumpling nor a fried pie, its light, crisp texture is easy to crave and brings a taste of Brazil in every bite.

A place to pause and unwind along the journey of everyday life
The Meaning Behind the Café's Name and Logo
"Lua" and "Rua" mean "moon" and "road" in Portuguese. "LuaRuaCoffee," located along a path illuminated by the moon, is envisioned as a place to regain energy before moving forward again. Its road sign-inspired logo symbolizes a marker along the road of life, reflecting the hope that the cafe will be both a place to pause and relax and a destination toward which the heart is drawn.

Special sweets with new flavors to discover on every visit
Original Menu Items with a Special Touch
A wide selection of sweets and light meals emphasizes the special appeal of items "found only here." Along with the shop's original "Hiyatoro Cake," sweets created by the pastry chef are available on a rotating daily basis. At the sister shop in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, cakes featuring the local specialty "Nishio Matcha" are also offered, bringing new flavors with each visit.
Interior
The garage-inspired exterior evokes "a stop along the way," the idea behind the shop's name. High ceilings, warm wood interiors, and the industrial feel of a garage come together in a welcoming space. Its comfortable atmosphere makes it an inviting place to stop and take a break during a journey.
