Bar&Grill CENTO

Authentic Italian Cuisine That Attracts Diners from Beyond Gunma

Popular with local residents of Maebashi as well as diners from outside the prefecture, the restaurant is also chosen for meals at the end of trips to destinations such as Kusatsu Onsen and Ikaho Onsen. Its refined, stylish interior provides a special setting for authentic Italian cuisine.

Authentic Italian Cuisine Made with Ingredients from Gunma Prefecture

"Bar&Grill CENTO" serves authentic Italian cuisine recognized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Based on Italian cooking that makes use of local ingredients, the restaurant avoids chemical additives and focuses on bringing out the natural flavors of each ingredient. "CENTO" means "100" in Italian, reflecting the restaurant's emphasis on attentive hospitality for every guest and its goal of providing "100 styles of service for 100% satisfaction."

Savor wine and food pairings

Charcoal-grilled for a tender texture

"Charcoal-Grilled Himuro Pork" Featuring "Hyoon Jukusei Himuro Pork®"

"Bar&Grill CENTO" bases its Italian cooking on seasonal ingredients from the region, using local products such as Gunma's branded "Akagi Beef" and fresh produce from Takayama Village. The restaurant was also among the first to serve "Hyoon Jukusei Himuro Pork®," a branded pork registered as a Food with Function Claims. The popular "Charcoal-Grilled Himuro Pork" is simply grilled over charcoal, highlighting the pork's savory flavor and fat that melts in the mouth.

  • Gunma's Brand-Name "Hyoon Jukusei Himuro Pork®"

Gunma's branded "Hyoon Jukusei Himuro Pork®" was developed through more than 25 years of research. Aging the pork at temperatures just above freezing intensifies its sweetness and umami, and is also known to increase its nutritional value.

Colorful, additive-free ingredients are well received

"Aglio e Olio with Fresh Hokkaido Sea Urchin and Bottarga"

The highly regarded "Hokkaido Fresh Sea Urchin Aglio e Olio with Bottarga" showcases the natural umami and sweetness of sea urchin. The restaurant uses saltwater-packed uni without alum, sourcing fresh sea urchin from Hokkaido or the Tohoku region depending on the season, so it can be enjoyed throughout the year. The rich, creamy pasta sauce is infused with plenty of sea urchin flavor, and the restaurant recommends soaking it up with bread. In landlocked Gunma, the chance to enjoy dishes made with fresh seafood is also part of the restaurant's appeal.

Must-try signature dish

  • Anniversary Plate

The anniversary plate is suited to birthdays and special occasions with someone important. The photogenic dessert is arranged with rose petals and can be personalized with a message, making it a good choice for a small surprise.

  • "Chocolate Fondant"

The course ends with "Fondant Chocolat," a dessert with rich melted chocolate flowing from the center. It makes a satisfying finish to the meal.

Restaurant highlights

  • Heartfelt dishes made with vegetables grown by local farmers

Cuisine Prepared Without Artificial Flavor Enhancers

The restaurant uses as many vegetables as possible from Gunma producers who grow their crops in harmony with nature without relying on pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Depending on the season, herbs from the restaurant's own garden are also used. No chemical seasonings are added, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to remain at the center of each dish.

  • An impressive custom-made glass-enclosed wine cellar

Over 200 Bottles of Wine Available at All Times

The glass-fronted wine cellar, standing about two meters high, holds around 200 wines at any given time. The selection includes bottles from Italy as well as France, Spain, the United States, Germany, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, and other countries. A sommelier is always on hand to recommend wines that suit the dishes or individual preferences.

The restaurant is designed around the concept of "a space that feels removed from the everyday." The entrance is deliberately positioned away from the road, keeping the interior out of view from passing traffic. European-inspired design creates a luxurious atmosphere reminiscent of a resort. Wide aisles and generous spacing between tables also allow diners to relax and enjoy their meal without feeling crowded by those around them.

  • Private Dining for Important Moments in Life

Two private rooms are available for occasions ranging from welcome and farewell parties or social gatherings to business meals and formal family introductions. The two rooms can be connected to create a "Party Room" for up to 30 people. The restaurant also hosts customized weddings for around 40 guests, offering the flexibility of a smaller celebration to create a setting closer to the couple's ideal vision.

  • An Escape from the Everyday at the Terrace Poolside

In the mild spring and fall seasons, diners can relax poolside on the open terrace. An aperitif before dinner or dessert afterward can be enjoyed with the evening breeze.
