Traditional Soul Food in a Historic Folk House
Located near the five-story pagoda of Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima in Hiroshima, this specialty shop focuses on onigiri, a staple of Japanese cuisine. Specially cultivated rice from Hiroshima is cooked until fluffy in a traditional pot, then each onigiri is carefully shaped by hand and topped with its filling. Wrapping the separately packaged salted nori around the rice just before eating adds a crisp texture and balanced saltiness that complements the rice's natural sweetness. Even the tuna filling is prepared from the stage of filleting bonito and tuna, reflecting a dedicated approach to every onigiri. The shop provides a satisfying meal before sightseeing on Miyajima or hiking Mount Misen.
Specially Cultivated Rice Certified as "Anshin! Hiroshima Brand"
The onigiri highlights fluffy rice cooked in a traditional pot and salted nori with a fragrant ocean aroma. The specially cultivated rice is certified under Hiroshima's "Anshin! Hiroshima Brand" and grown with pesticide and chemical fertilizer use reduced to half or less than conventional levels. Each carefully handmade filling pairs harmoniously with the rice and nori.
Premium Seasoned Nori from the Ariake Sea
The onigiri is topped with carefully prepared fillings, including tuna made from freshly filleted bonito and tuna, along with house-made soy sauce and shio koji crafted with koji from Hiroshima. The salted nori is packaged separately and wrapped around the rice just before eating, preserving its crisp texture and distinctive ocean aroma.
