A Traditional Japanese Confectionery with Over 190 Years of History
Founded in 1830, "Tense sake manju shop" is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop now run by its seventh-generation husband-and-wife team. Their signature "saka manju"—steamed buns made with sake yeast passed down through generations—offer a delicate aroma reminiscent of sake with every bite. Another local favorite is the "Kawa Yokan", a gently steamed sweet made by wrapping their rich, homemade koshian (smooth red bean paste) in bamboo bark. In addition to their beloved classics, they also offer seasonal treats, always seeking to balance time-honored tradition with fresh new flavors—making this cherished shop a favorite among people of all ages.
