Nostalgic, Old-School Okonomiyaki
Founded in 1962, "Mori" is a long-established okonomiyaki shop that continues to serve the simple, nostalgic flavors of Hiroshima’s beloved soul food. The restaurant is even said to attract visits from celebrities. One of its distinctive features is that the egg topping on the okonomiyaki continues to gently cook on the teppan as you eat. Though the shop was renovated in May 2024, the retro charm of the Showa era remains. Takeout orders are served in breathable wooden trays (kyogi) wrapped in newspaper, preserving the authentic atmosphere of days gone by. These nostalgic packages also make for a charming and memorable souvenir.

"Mori," Renovated in May 2024
Although the newly renovated interior may make you forget that this is a long-established restaurant founded in 1962, the vintage photos on the wall speak to the rich history of "Mori." The udon and soba have long been private-label items, and now the sauces are original as well, making the menu even more complete.

The Signature Dish: "Mori’s Top Pick"
At "Mori," one of the few places in Hiroshima where you can enjoy old-school okonomiyaki, the most popular item is the signature dish, "Mori’s Top Pick." The egg is cooked to an ultra-soft and creamy consistency, creating a delightfully fluffy and melty texture. The owner is a big pro wrestling fan, and as a result, many New Japan Pro-Wrestling athletes have visited the restaurant.
