A "Hidden Retreat" for Fine Dishes and Select Sake
Facing Chifunemachi-dori in Matsuyama, this hideaway-style Japanese restaurant serves seasonal dishes made with seafood from the Seto Inland Sea and other mountain and sea ingredients, paired with local sake. At lunch, a limited Tensen set (15 servings per day) presents small portions of selected dinner favorites, arranged with careful attention to detail. The sake lineup features nine labels at all times, combining six core selections with three seasonal local brews. Inside, a white-wood counter and refined Japanese design elements create a calm, welcoming space, complemented by warm wood tones and discreet, well-paced service for a quietly relaxed dining experience.
Dishes Crafted to Let Each Ingredient Shine
The à la carte menu centers on wild-caught seafood and changes with each day’s market arrivals, making every visit feel different. Richly prepared dashi is adjusted by dish to enhance natural flavors, while seasoning is kept to a minimum to highlight the true character of each ingredient.
An Unhurried Atmosphere for Cuisine and Sake
Although it faces a main street, the restaurant has a tranquil appearance from the outside. As the owner says, "I want you to enjoy food and drinks in a comfortable and relaxing space." Once you step through the noren curtains, you'll find yourself in a Japanese space filled with the warmth of wood. Why not spend some relaxing time in this "hideaway" known only to those in the know?
