Dried Sweet Potatoes from Ibaraki Prefecture, Shipped Nationwide
Ibaraki Prefecture is actively promoting its specialty product, dried sweet potatoes, to the public through various events held by the tourism association and other organizations. As part of this initiative, "Hoshiimo Shrine" was established in 2019. On the shrine's premises, visitors can find a vending machine offering dried sweet potatoes, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a snack and relax at the cafe after paying your respects.

Visit "Horide Shrine" on the Grounds
Founded in 1663, "Horide Shrine" was named after the deity unearthed when "Tokugawa Mitsukuni" excavated a mound. It has long been worshipped as Hachiman, the god of learning and protection from evil. If you visit Hoshiimo Shrine, be sure to stop by and pray here.
A Symbol of Local Pride: The Golden Torii
To worship at this shrine, pass through the 53 "golden torii gates", use the temizuya (purification fountain), and offer a coin or coins before the altar. Ring the golden bell two or three times, bow twice, clap twice, put your hands together, pray to the gods, and finally bow once. Pets are welcome at the shrine as well.
01. A unique golden vending machine offering dried sweet potatoes - a specialty of Ibaraki Prefecture - can be found in the rest area on the temple grounds.
02. A heart-shaped sweet potato leaf.
03. The "golden bike", said to bring good fortune, is available for visitors to sit on and take a commemorative photo.
