Historic Onsen Flowing Continuously Since the Edo Era
A hidden hot spring inn nestled in the mountains of Umegashima, the inner parlor of Shizuoka City. The "Miracle Water," with a strong alkaline pH of 10.3, has been flowing since the Edo period (mid-16th Century) and can be fully enjoyed in four private baths with different atmospheres, all sourced from natural springs. The inn, surrounded by nature, offers various charming spaces, such as meals by the hearth and rooms with terraces, allowing you to leisurely enjoy exquisite meals and drinks without inhibition, in complete privacy with your family. For dinner, we recommend kaiseki featuring local specialties from Umegashima, mountain delicacies, river fish, and seasonal ingredients such as "Surugashamo" chicken. The inn also offers services such as pick-up from JR Shizuoka Station, ample parking, and free Wi-Fi, making your stay even more delightful.

Guest Room

Tatami Rooms with Edges Made from Repurposed Kimono Fabric

Guest rooms feature refined Japanese-style tatami, with tatami borders repurposed from kimono fabric. A private corridor and terrace enhance comfort for extended families or groups. Two semi-double Simmons beds, known for their comfort, are provided, with an extra bed available.

Two-Room Tatami Suites Named After Local Landmarks

A two-room Japanese-style suite named after the twin-peaked "Mount Jumaisan," a symbol of Umegashima. A roll curtain allows the space to be divided, accommodating different group sizes and uses. The windows open to expansive views of the Umegashima mountains, creating a spacious setting.

Spa

Hot Spring Surrounded by Gardens Changing with the Seasons

The "Hana no Yu," the largest bath at "Onogiso," was perfected through years of study by a previous owner into the angles of the rocks, the depth of the tub, and the temperature of the water. Surrounded by a garden that changes with the seasons, the setting is accompanied by the gentle rustling of trees, creating a soothing atmosphere for both body and mind.

Open-Air Bath Known for Leaving Skin Smooth

"Kaze no Yu" features a 100% free-flowing, highly alkaline sulfur spring that leaves skin feeling smooth. The gentle tones of the French-made bamboo instrument "Koshee Chimes," swaying in the breeze, blend with the sounds of nature to create a calming atmosphere.

Twin Inner Baths Offering Calm Immersion in Nature

The indoor rock bath "Tori no Yu" offers views of a birdcage through the window, with the surrounding forest beyond reflecting the changing seasons. "Tsuki no Yu," maintained at the lowest temperature, is characterized by a quiet ambiance reminiscent of moonlight. A slower soak allows for a deeply calming experience.

Cuisine

Private Dining Room Serving the Proprietress's Japanese Dinner

Seasonal country-style dishes featuring mountain vegetables and mushrooms, along with fresh sashimi from Suruga Bay, are served in private dining rooms and accompanied by hon-wasabi from Umegashima. Options include "Surugashamo" chicken and wild boar dishes, each prepared with care by the proprietress and noted for their satisfying flavors.

Exceptional Sake from Shizuoka Known for Pure Water

Shizuoka, surrounded by Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps and known for its abundant natural water, produces a wide range of sake made from these sources and is often called a "ginjo kingdom." A diverse selection is available at all times, suitable for tasting comparisons or pairing with small dishes.

Wide Selection of Sweets Crafted by the Proprietress

A selection of original sweets created by the proprietress uses local produce and mountain water, including ice cream flavored with Umegashima black tea, hojicha, and chai, as well as Japanese-style desserts. An original cake for special occasions is also available, suited to celebratory stays.

Teppanyaki of Rich Shizuoka Black Wagyu Beef

Teppanyaki of Shizuoka-raised Japanese Black beef, served as the main dinner course, brings together rich umami, a full aroma, tender sweetness of the meat, and the refreshing heat of local wasabi in a well-balanced pairing. Careful preparation that highlights local ingredients allows the natural flavors of each element to be fully appreciated.

Amago Trout Grilled Soft to the Bone with Infrared Heat

Fresh amago trout raised in the clear waters of Umegashima is a distinctive feature of the inn. Outside the summer season, meals are served around an irori hearth, where the flickering flames and glowing charcoal create a calming atmosphere. Limited to one group per day and available by reservation.

Location

Hidden Inn with Historic Hot Spring and Clear Night Skies

A secluded inn set in a valley of Umegashima, surrounded by rugged mountains, dense forests, and clear streams. Soaking in the historic Konya hot spring, long regarded as a revered site, offers a sense of immersion in nature that soothes both body and mind. On clear nights, shooting stars may occasionally be seen overhead.
