A Carefully Designed Retreat for Unhurried Relaxation
At the confluence of the Amori-gawa River and Nakatsu-gawa River lies an area once known as "Orihashi," where "Orihashi Ryokan" has welcomed guests since 1879 and was favored by writers and artists. The property includes a main building that retains the atmosphere of the Taisho era, an annex with the naturally flowing "Kizu-yu" hot spring, and detached accommodations once visited by various notable figures, all offering a restful setting. The detached accommodations are especially refined, with every guest room featuring an open-air bath. Dinner at the close of the day is kaiseki cuisine prepared with ingredients from the mountains and sea, complementing a stay centered on warm hot springs and seasonal dining.

"Shouan" Special Suite for an Exceptional Stay

The special room "Shouan" is surrounded by fragrant camphor trees and a bamboo grove. Its exterior features traditional sukiya-style architecture, while the interior includes a Japanese-style room and a Western-style room with beds. Bathing facilities include an indoor bath, an open-air bath, a cold plunge, and a reclining bath beneath the starry sky.

Nature-Filled "Chikurin" Special Suite

The special room "Chikurin" is located beside the bamboo grove surrounding the inn. A spacious indoor bath and sauna are provided, along with an open-air bath and cold plunge outdoors. The Western-style room features a large screen and can be used like a private theater room.

Japanese-Western Comfort in a Private Detached Room

Of the 12 detached accommodations, seven are located on the riverside and five on the mountainside. The selection includes three Japanese-style rooms and nine Japanese-Western rooms, with some accommodations sleeping up to six guests. The varied layouts suit a wide range of stays, from couples to families.

Detached guest rooms feature free-flowing, open-air hot-spring baths, along with indoor baths and cold plunges. The private setting allows bathing at any preferred time, creating a stay centered on ample time in the hot springs.

The hot springs at "Orihashi Ryokan" are cherished by many as a place to unwind after travel. The large open-air "Enoki no Yu" bath, equipped with a sauna, offers a leisurely soak along with a complete "totonou" experience.

Healing Waters at the Freshly Drawn "Kizu-yu"

The naturally flowing "Kizu-yu" hot spring in the annex is said to have been used by Satsuma soldiers to treat wounds during the Satsuma Rebellion. The water is classified as a bicarbonate spring and is said to leave the skin feeling smooth. The "Dining Plan," which combines a day-use hot spring visit with a meal, is also well received.

Kaiseki cuisine reflects the area's abundance of seasonal produce, with menus showcasing ingredients from both the mountains and the sea. Dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients change each month, offering a different dining experience with every season.

Wellness-Focused "No Salt, No Sugar" Cuisine

For guests who need to limit salt or sugar in their daily meals, "salt-free and sugar-free" dishes are available, so dining can remain part of the travel experience. Prepared to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients, the dishes offer a gentle and satisfying taste.

Historic Main Building with Timeless Charm

The main building, constructed in 1913, formerly served as guest accommodations and is now used as a private dining venue. "Reiwakan" accommodates up to 40 guests and is well-suited to banquets, wedding receptions, and other gatherings.
