An Exclusive Inn on the Seto Inland Sea, Used as a Movie Location
This lodging is limited to one group per day and was used in the filming of the movie "Drive My Car." The windows on the second floor of the Edo-era building offer a colorful and beautiful view of the ocean and island, and you'll lose track of time as you just stare at it. The chefs prepare creative Japanese dishes that bring out the best of local ingredients, such as fresh seafood caught that day from the Akinada Sea, citrus fruits and vegetables grown in the warm climate, just for guests. Spend a special time enjoying the stories, scenery, and food that have been carved out by the town and its buildings.

Guest Room

Feel the History from the 150-Year-Old Building and Its Stories

The house was built at the end of the Edo period and is over 150 years old, and you can feel its history from the large beams, pillars, and fittings. I want to sit on the sofa and enjoy the scenery that can only be seen at that moment.

The Beauty of the Setouchi Archipelago Seen Through "Distorted Glass"

The vivid "Setouchi Blue" spreads through the "distorted glass" of the windows. The morning sun rises over the shadow of the island, and the scenery of ships sailing out into the ocean and seabirds dancing in the sky is beautiful. The utensils from the time when it was an inn until the early Showa era are still used as interior decoration to welcome travelers.

Luxurious time for 4 people limited to 1 group per day

There are two bedrooms in this private inn, which can accommodate up to four people per group, one with a king-sized bed (for two people) and one with a queen-sized bed (for two people). Enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time without being disturbed.

The water area and bathroom have a modern design

The spacious and clean bathroom has stylish gray tiles and a white bathtub. The washbasin is made of cypress wood, giving off a pleasant scent. There is a large mirror, and women-friendly amenities such as bath towels, hair dryers, lotion, and slippers are available.

Cuisine

Enjoy private time at a private restaurant

Meals are served in the restaurant on the first floor, which is reserved for one group of guests, so enjoy it while relaxing. A variety of meals will be prepared right in front of your eyes, tailored to your seasoning preferences, ingredients you don't like, pace of serving, quantity, etc.

Seasonal blessings from the Seto Inland Sea served with sincerity

For dinner, enjoy creative Japanese cuisine made with skill and heart by a chef who is familiar with the island's ingredients. You can enjoy extremely fresh ingredients and dishes, such as seafood from the Akinada Sea, which has a calm landscape but strong currents, and citrus fruits from islands with little rain and many steep slopes.

Along with unique local sake that complements the dishes.

Let's enjoy local alcoholic drinks such as Kure's local sake, which is highly rated nationwide, as well as whiskey and craft gin made in Hiroshima Prefecture, along with the food. In a town that flourished as a port for waiting for the wind and the tide, you can enjoy the flavors of a food culture that is still alive today.

Location

A peaceful landscape of the sea, sky, and archipelago

The sea and sky that spreads out in front of the inn are a "Setouchi Blue" that will almost suck you in. Sometimes the fog covers the area, creating a fantastical landscape where distant islands appear to be floating. Take your time, relax, and enjoy the moment of being moved by the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea.

The scenery at night is completely different from the daytime.

The view at night with a full moon is even more special. The gently swaying waves shine like jewels, centering on the "moon path" drawn by moonlight on the sea. The breathtaking scenery can be seen from the east-facing windows for about two days before and after the full moon, so be sure to visit.

A townscape that makes you feel like you have traveled back in time

In 1994, Mitarai, Toyo-machi, Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, was selected by the national government as an Important Preservation County for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The town has changed since the mid-17th century with the development of the port, and the atmosphere of being a transit port on the Seto Inland Sea still remains, with Western-style buildings built from the Taisho period to the early Showa period.
