Hanayashiki Ukifune-en in Uji, Kyoto – A Treasure Trove of Historical Romance
This long-established ryokan is located in Uji City, Kyoto, a historic town dotted with World Heritage sites and known as the setting for The Tale of Genji. It offers eight types of luxurious Japanese-style guest rooms, each overlooking the Uji River, where the changing seasons can be appreciated from the window. Opposite the inn stands a serene steak restaurant in a converted teahouse, built in the traditional sukiya style, where diners can savour premium wagyu beef while watching the craftsmanship of the chefs up close. The ryokan also features a large public bath, sauna, and rooftop bar "THE BORDER", offering a refined atmosphere that enhances every moment of your stay.

Guest Room

A Grand Seasonal Landscape Shaped by Nature

The view of the Uji River from the lobby and all the rooms is like a large painting. Along with the beautiful sandbar and tower island that spreads out before you, you can enjoy the changing seasons, such as Byodoin Temple colored with cherry blossoms in spring, the clear stream in summer, the autumn leaves on the mountains, and the snowy landscape in winter.

Luxurious Guest Rooms "Kocho" and "Ran" Available to Only One Group per Day

The spacious room features floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a marble floor, two 140 cm-wide Simmons double beds, a semi-open-air bath, and heated flooring. It provides the perfect place to relax and recover from a long journey while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Japan.

A Guest Room Reserved for One Group per Day

The guest room "YAMABUKI" has a luxurious feel with wooden lattices, making the sunlight seem even more beautiful. In the guest room "BOTAN", you can relax while enjoying the view from the window and the large table and chairs in the open living room.

Relaxing Guest Rooms Filled With the Best of Japan

The premium suite "Tokiwa no Ma" features a low bed and a semi-open-air bath finished in Juraku-style plaster. Other rooms, such as the "Regular Room," are also purely Japanese in style, offering an authentic ambience where guests can experience sleeping on a futon, traditional Japanese bedding.

A Tranquil Steak Restaurant with Sukiya-Style Architecture

Walking along the stone pavement opposite the inn and passing through a small gate, you will find a tranquil steak restaurant housed in a renovated teahouse with a traditional Sukiya-style design. Enjoy your meal while watching the chefs at work up close. Photography is welcome, allowing you to capture lasting memories of your visit.

Steak Dinner Course - Miyabi

The popular "Miyabi Steak Dinner Course," favoured by international visitors, features a choice of specially selected Wagyu beef sirloin or fillet. The course includes rice or ochazuke, with the option to upgrade to garlic rice for an additional fee. The beef’s place of origin varies depending on the season and availability.
