A Hot Spring Inn with Over 90 Years of History
This charming wooden hot spring inn is nestled in the Okutsu area of Kagamino-cho, Okayama Prefecture. Established in 1927, the building is a registered tangible cultural property and is said to have connections with former Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi and renowned printmaker Munakata Shiko. The inn’s interior combines the nostalgic charm of its origins with a modern design that offers contemporary comforts. There are a total of eight rooms, including Japanese-Western style rooms renovated in 2024 and a detached building featuring an open-air bath. The inn boasts a rare hot spring experience, allowing guests to soak directly in the "spring water that naturally emerges from underground". The hot spring includes an indoor bath positioned above the spring source and a private bath, both of which are also available for day use.

Guest Room with an Indoor Bath "Ume"

Located in the main building, a registered tangible cultural property, this guest room has an indoor bath where you can enjoy hot spring water straight from the source. The spacious guest room, which includes a charming 10-tatami Japanese-style room and a bedroom, is located on the first floor, making it a great choice for those with mobility issues.

A Modern Guest Room with a Shower Boath

The modern Japanese-Western-style rooms "TSUBAKI" and "KEYAKI" were renovated in April 2024. While retaining the good old Japanese atmosphere from the hotel's founding, these rooms also feature modern comforts such as shower booths and can accommodate up to four people.

"Sakura" Guest Room with an Indoor Bath Overlooking the Clear Stream

"Sakura" offers a view of the Yoshii River and features a tranquil room with an interior that showcases the warmth of wood. The room includes two beds and an indoor bath set on tatami flooring. Additionally, there are Japanese-style rooms, such as "Kaede" and "Hiiragi," where you can fully immerse yourself in the traditional Japanese atmosphere.

Comfortable Western-Style Guest Rooms

The Western-style rooms "Icho" and "Momiji" are located on the second floor of the main building. Each room has two beds and can accommodate up to two people. "Icho" is also equipped with a massage chair, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing time while taking in the view of the Yoshii River outside the window.

Spa

An Indoor Bath to Luxuriously Enjoy the Natural Hot Spring Water

This "foot-spring" hot spring is rare nationwide, allowing guests to soak directly in the hot spring water that naturally emerges from underground. There are two types of indoor baths: "Kagiyu (Bath of the Key is named after a samurai lord who, 400 years ago, locked the bath to keep others from using it). and "Tateyu" (a standing bath), both situated at the same level as the riverbed where the spring water flows out, offering fresh water to enjoy 24 hours a day.

A Private Bath to Fully Enjoy Your Private Space

Two types of private baths are available: "Kawa no Yu", where you can listen to the murmuring river and enjoy views of the mountains, feeling the passage of time and seasons, and "Izumi no Yu", where soft light filters through stained glass. Relax in a private, tranquil space.

Enjoy the Hot Springs at "Okutsuso" on a Day Trip

Non-staying guests can also enjoy the hot springs at "Okutsuso" on a day trip. In addition to the "Kagiyu" and "Tateyu", which utilize the riverbed shaped by the flow of the river, two types of private baths are available. Immerse yourself in the fresh spring water that flows from the rich spring source.

Cuisine

Enjoy Seasonal Ingredients and Local Flavors

For dinner, a course is offered that allows guests to enjoy seasonal ingredients and the local flavors of the Okutsu area. Up to eight different courses are available, varying with the seasons, such as the "Seasonal Kaiseki Course" and the "Regional Beef Course", ensuring a delightful experience even for extended stays or repeat visits.

A body-friendly breakfast featuring Okutsu-sourced rice.

In the morning, wake up to a breakfast designed with the concept of being "gentle on the body". Enjoy a Japanese-style meal featuring "Koshihikari" and "Kinumusume" rice from Okutsu, sourced from a local contracted farm and cooked in the spring water, accompanied by seasonal side dishes that complement the rice.

Facility

"Samute" Lounge Exclusively for Guests

A 100-year-old traditional Japanese house located in front of the main building has been renovated. It can be used as a lounge exclusively for guests, where you can relax and unwind after your trip. After dinner, you can enjoy a quiet moment with complimentary local sake, wine, coffee, and snacks.
