Fulfilling Moments on a Journey Between Everyday and Escape
Quietly set in a satoyama landscape, "Kogei no Yado Waraku" is an inn centered on history and culture. The eight guest rooms make use of the warmth of wood, with striking features such as large beams and earthen floors that reflect the character of a traditional house more than 100 years old. The five rooms in the Waraku Annex are equipped with private saunas and furnished with items and tools created by skilled artisans, offering a setting that reflects the handicraft traditions passed down since the Edo period. The inn accommodates a range of stays, including solo travel and trips with family or friends.

Guest Room

-WA-

At dusk, the engawa veranda offers a place to feel the evening breeze, while night brings time in the private sauna followed by quiet moments beneath the star-filled sky. The view extending beyond the veranda and the soft glow of lights evoke a sense of time unfolding. Within this refined space, where numerous craftworks are thoughtfully arranged, a calm and unhurried atmosphere prevails.

-RAKU-

A maisonette-type room with an impressive structure connected by a dirt floor. The trees in the garden create a seasonal atmosphere, and the furniture and tools made by craftsmen give you a sense of the spirit of craftsmanship. Accommodates up to four people, including the bedroom on the second floor.

-DOMA-

A guest room connected by an earthen-floor space where Nordic furniture blends in harmony. The long earthen floor creates a sense of depth, shaping a setting distinct from everyday life. Time unfolds around a round table overlooking the garden, creating a place for conversation and shared moments.

-FUJI-

The largest room at "Kogei no Yado Waraku" offers a spacious setting reminiscent of living in a traditional Japanese house. The tatami living area and large bath provide comfort for group stays, accommodating up to six guests. A washing machine and refrigerator are also provided, supporting longer stays.

-Kura-

Created through the renovation of a traditional storehouse, this guest room offers a retreat-like setting. The living area overlooks the garden, offering seasonal views year-round. A private sauna provides a space for quiet relaxation, completing the sense of "totonou (a deeply relaxed, mentally clear state following sauna bathing)" within the room.

Spa

Two Types of Luxurious Cypress Baths

The bathroom, filled with the soothing scent of cypress, is said to have a relaxing effect similar to a forest bath. There are two cypress baths, one of which is a cold plunge, allowing you to further relax with alternating hot and cold water baths.

Our Own Space / Private Sauna

A private sauna equipped with Löyly's aroma of tea can be used freely at any time, without fixed schedules. After warming the body, a cold plunge and open-air cooling create the balanced sensation known in sauna culture as "totonou (a deeply relaxed, mentally clear state following sauna bathing)," easing the body into deep relaxation after a day of travel. The hinoki bath and sauna are facilities available only to the five rooms in the annex.

"Simples" expresses the delicacies of Suruga Bay and the blessings of the mountains in one dish to enjoy the flavors of Shizuoka Prefecture. By using ingredients carefully selected by the chef and creating French-based creative dishes, you can enjoy dishes that can only be found at that moment.

Vibrant Dishes Perfect for Starting Your Day

For breakfast, a selection of dishes made with locally sourced ingredients is offered, including Tororo soup, a specialty of Mariko-syuku, a post town on the Tokaido road, and Shizuoka oden, a taste of hometown. The well-balanced dishes, served in carefully selected bowls, are perfect for a refreshing morning.

Mariko-syuku, a post town on the 53rd station of the Tokaido, is an attractive place that is steeped in nature and history. There are various facilities scattered around the area, including cafes, restaurants, candy stores, and breweries, so take a stroll and think about the travelers of yesteryear.

One of Japan’s Largest Craft Experience Facilities

At the "Takumi Shuku/Traditional Craft Art Center" traditional crafts rooted in Shizuoka since the Imagawa and Tokugawa eras—including Suruga bamboo latticework, Japanese dyeing, woodwork, lacquerware, and pottery—are available to experience. It is an ideal stop before or after a stay, offering a closer look at the region’s craftsmanship.
