Soak Anytime in Pure Source-Fed Onsen
With its refined sukiya-style architecture that conveys the warmth of traditional Japanese design, "Furuya Ryokan" is a historic hot spring inn established in the mid-Edo period. The property owns "Seizaemon no Yu," one of the Atami Seven Hot Springs long cherished in the area, and every bath features authentic natural hot spring water used in a free-flowing style without added water, reheating, or circulation. Dining centers on Kyoto-style kaiseki that respects traditional Japanese cuisine while incorporating contemporary sensibilities, with carefully selected seasonal ingredients crafted by skilled chefs into beautifully presented, richly flavored dishes.

Guest Room

Spacious Sukiya-Style Tatami Room for Relaxation

A sukiya-style space defined by refined Japanese design creates a comfortable atmosphere. The property offers a total of 26 guest rooms, each with a distinct layout, and even the standard type features a spacious floor plan of at least 12.5 tatami mats, providing ample room for relaxation.

Soak Slowly in a Private Open-Air Bath

Eight guest rooms with scenic-view baths feature spacious layouts of more than 15 tatami mats. Each stone bath is carved from a single piece of granite by skilled artisans, offering a setting for a leisurely soak while sensing the presence of nature.

Luxurious "Guest Rooms with Indoor Open-Air Hinoki Bath"

Opened in July 2021 in a separate building, four guest rooms feature 24-hour free-flowing hot spring baths in private indoor open-air settings. Each 60m² room includes a 12.5-tatami Japanese-style room and an all-weather bath crafted from domestic natural hinoki wood, offering a private bathing experience.

Indoor Open-Air Bath Designed for All Weather

Developed by "Furuya Ryokan," the all-weather "indoor open-air bath" features motorized exterior blinds that allow fresh air in while bathing. The blinds can be opened, closed, and angled at the touch of a button, providing a comfortable bathing environment in any weather.

Spa

Seizaemon no Yu, One of Atam's Seven Famous Springs

The hot spring water at this inn comes from a high-quality natural source and is used without added water or chemical disinfection. In the spacious, atmospheric large public bath and the open-air baths attached to guest rooms, "Seizaemon no Yu," a renowned Atami spring dating back to the Edo period, is provided.

Steaming Water Drawn Directly from the Source

Each guest room features a spacious open-air bath with its own distinctive design. The tubs, fragrant with hinoki, are filled with 100% free-flowing hot spring water from the source. Immersion in the bath offers a tranquil moment away from the pace of daily life.

Wide Bath and Quiet Steam-Filled Space

The clear, gentle waters of Furuya Ryokan have been cherished for centuries and are regarded as one of Atami’s representative hot springs. Baths are filled with natural hot spring water drawn directly from the source, providing a spacious setting for relaxation.

Cuisine

Seasonal Beauty Reflected in Each Carefully Prepared Dish

Dining at Furuya Ryokan features authentic Kyoto-style kaiseki that highlights the peak of each season and brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients. Fresh seasonal produce is crafted into dishes noted for their depth of flavor and vibrant presentation.

Refined Cuisine Showcasing Delicate Craftsmanship

Prepared with fresh seafood and vegetables, the dishes offer delicate flavors. Each course of the Kyoto-style kaiseki is carefully crafted with attention to ease of dining, expressing understated elegance and the refined beauty of Japanese cuisine.

Dinner and Breakfast Served Privately in the Room

The menu is completely refreshed every three weeks, with careful attention given to the selection of tableware. The thoughtfully prepared dishes, designed to offer variety with each visit, are well received by returning guests. Both dinner and breakfast are served in the guest room.

Location

Atami’s Off-Season Fireworks Festival

Although fireworks festivals are often associated with summer, Atami hosts them more than ten times throughout the year. In addition to the finely crafted displays by Shizuoka pyrotechnic companies, collaborations featuring stage performances and music also draw attention. The events showcase dynamic sound and light effects unique to Atami’s fireworks displays.
