Home-Roasted Coffee Using "Mount Yotei Fukidashi Spring"
Located within Fukidashi Park in Kyogoku, Hokkaido, "Jikabaisen Coffee Cafe Moca" serves coffee brewed with the natural spring water known as "Mount Yotei Fukidashi Spring," which originates from rain and snow that fell on Mount Yotei and gradually filtered underground over several decades before emerging as spring water. Surrounded by expansive natural scenery, visitors can enjoy carefully prepared coffee while taking in the landscape. A wide selection of coffee beans and drip bags is also available for purchase, making them suitable souvenirs. Roasted to bring out their natural sweetness, the coffee is meticulously brewed using the traditional nel-drip method. On clear days, the terrace offers views of Mount Yotei, often called "Ezo Fuji," alongside a fragrant cup of coffee.
Coffee Beans Washed with "Mount Yotei Fukidashi Spring"
The coffee beans are washed before roasting to remove surface impurities, resulting in a cleaner and more refined cup. The water used for this process is "Mount Yotei Fukidashi Spring," a natural spring water selected as one of Japan’s 100 Remarkable Waters. This soft water is well-suited not only for brewing coffee but also for washing green coffee beans prior to roasting.
Purchase "Kyogoku Pudding" From the Sister Shop
"Kyogoku Pudding," known for its smooth texture and sold at a sister specialty pudding shop, is also available at "Jikabaisen Coffee Cafe Moca." Varieties include the most popular "Silky White Custard," "Silky Spring Water Coffee," made with rich coffee brewed with local spring water, and flavors featuring locally grown potatoes from Kyogoku, among many others.
