Founded in 1937 as an incense wholesaler, Kohgen currently operates three stores in Nagoya, Ginza, and Ueno under the name "Kohgen," which means "the source of information on Japanese incense." In addition to selling incense, fragrant woods, prayer beads, and other items, and appraising rare and valuable fragrant woods, the company also offers "Handmade Incense Workshops" where you can make incense sticks and sachets, and "Incense Wood Burning Comparison Experiences," where you can burn fragrant woods and listen to their scents (as is called in the art of incense).
