Tourist spots in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture, famous for cherry blossoms

Tenshoji Park is famous for its row of cherry blossom trees that stretches for about 2km from Sango Bridge on the Kitakami River. In 1990, it was selected as one of the top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots, making it one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Tohoku. Approximately 10,000 cherry trees and 100,000 azaleas are planted within the park, and you can enjoy a spectacular view from Jingaoka, which is located on a slightly elevated site. It's a place you'll want to visit not only during the cherry blossom season, but at any time of the year, such as enjoying picnics and sunbathing on the lush lawn in the summer, walking through a tunnel of autumn leaves in the fall, and admiring the winter scenery in the winter. It has been loved by many people since it opened in 1921.
