"Nonjin Koya" Temple, a Historical Sanctuary for Women
During the Heian period, it became a place of worship for Retired Emperor Goshirakawa's younger sister, Hachijo Nyoin, and is one of the few "women's highlands" that welcomed many women and was loved even during a time when women were strictly prohibited from entering. Even in modern times, it is still used as a prayer for women who visit the shrine, such as to bring good luck to women, ward off evil spirits, and pray for safe childbirth.
