A Sanctuary of Healing and Prayer Nestled in the City

"Ikune Shrine" is located approximately a 3-minute walk from Osaka Metro Tamade Station. The deities enshrined here are "Sukunahikona no Mikoto," "Hiruji no Mikoto," and "Sugawara no Michizane," who are said to have divine virtues that protect health, prosperous business, and academic success. Every year during the summer festival, a one-of-a-kind cultural asset called "Digaku" is displayed on the grounds. On the winter solstice, "Kotsuma Pumpkin" is given to the shrine, and many people visit to seek blessings for good health.

Eat Pumpkins to Ward Off Senility at the "Kotsuma Pumpkin Festival"

Every year on Setsubun, the shrine steams "Kotsuma Pumpkin"—a traditional Naniwa heirloom vegetable—on the grounds and offers it with sweet azuki beans (1,000 yen). The winter air fills with warm steam as visitors pray for clarity of mind, protection from paralysis, good health, and warding off misfortune.

At "Ikune Shrine," a wide selection of amulets is available year-round at the shrine office, including "Daigaku health charm" and "Nankin Chirimen charm."
