Eat Pumpkins to Ward Off Senility at the "Kotsuma Pumpkin Festival"
At the "Kotsuma Pumpkin Festival," held every year on the winter solstice, Naniwa's traditional vegetable, the "Kotsuma Pumpkin," is steamed on the grounds and served with red beans (first harvest fee: 1,000 yen). Amidst the steam that rises in the shrine grounds in winter, many worshipers visit the Kotsuma Pumpkin Mound to pray for protection from senility, paralysis, good health, and protection from misfortune.
A Variety of Amulets and Goshuin Stamps for Special Festivals
"Ikune Shrine" has a wide variety of gifts, including the "Digaku Health Amulet" and "Pumpkin Chirimen Amulet," related to festivals, which are distributed year-round at the shrine office. In addition to the standard types of goshuin, there are "cut-out goshuin" and "clear goshuin" that are available in limited quantities and for a limited time, and are ideal for commemorating your visit to the shrine.
