"Fujisawa Yugyoji Temple", located in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is the main temple of the Jishu sect, established in 1325 by the monk Donkai with the assistance of his brother, Matano Goro Kagehira. "Fujisawa Yugyoji Temple", founded in 1325 by the 4th generation Yugyō priest Donkai, will celebrate its 700th anniversary in 2025. The temple grounds will be renovated, and commemorative events will be held. The "Odori Nembutsu (dancing invocation)" ritual, popularized by the sect's founder Ippen Shonin, is said to be the root of the Bon Odori dance. The "Yugyo no Bon" festival is held in July, becoming a summer seasonal event.

"Uga Shrine", Known for the "Deity Uga Benzaiten"

Located at the back left of the shrine grounds, "Uga jinja Shrine" enshrines "deity Uga Benzaiten", a deity associated with the Tokugawa family. Behind the shrine stands Zeniarai Benzaiten, long revered for bringing wealth and fortune through the ritual of washing coins. Enjoy Seasonal Blooms and Foliage Throughout the Year

The symbolic tree known as Ōichō (Large Gingko Tree) is said to be over 700 years old and is designated as a natural monument of Fujisawa City. In the summer, peonies, wisterias, hydrangeas, and other flowers come into full bloom, attracting many visitors every year to the "Shobu Garden (Iris)" that opens in the courtyard.
