Conveying the history and origins of Aizu to the present day

With a history of over 2,000 years, Aizu Shrine is the spiritual and cultural heart of the Aizu region. Once the highest shrine in the Iwashiro Province (now western Fukushima), it continues to host seasonal Shinto rituals and houses treasures designated as nationally important cultural properties. The shrine is famous for its "Usuzumizakura," one of the "Five Cherry Blossoms of Aizu," the stunning "Hiryu no Wisteria," a natural monument of Fukushima, and the outer garden "Ayame-en," where irises and seasonal flowers bloom beautifully. Events like the Otaue Festival, a nationally recognized intangible cultural property, make it a must-visit.
