Cafe and Bakery Yamamuro Enjoy a freshly-baked cafe breakfast at a nostalgic kissaten!

Yamamuro is a traditional Japanese-style cafe, or kissaten. Since 1980, it has been a place where locals come to read, meet, and otherwise spend time as they please. Pleasantly warm sunlight beams through the large glass windows when the cafe opens at 8:00 a.m. The owner Mr. Yamamuro’s family ran a bakery, so the cafe’s bread is all homemade. Their delicious hot sandwiches (¥550 by itself, ¥850 with coffee) come with ample ingredients sandwiched between two slices of perfectly-toasted bread. Enjoy one with a siphon-brewed coffee (¥480) made with beans that are ground to order.

URA DAILY STAND A backstreet hole in the wall with outstanding tacos!

This compact bar has little more than a counter and a handful of seats. They are best known for crispy tacos (¥580) you can eat with one hand. The pork tacos and fish tacos (filled with fried cod) are the most popular, and their fresh and slightly spicy flavor pairs well with drinks. Other delicious items on their menu include firefly squid ceviche and octopus and avocado salad, both made with local seafood. The bar opens early, so we recommend it your first port of call!
